Masters State Open Water Swimming Champs – 10 Dec

The MSWA State OWS Champs are coming up soon. It would be great to see as many club members as possible swimming or supporting. It’s a great event for both! When: Saturday 10 December (rego 6:15-7:00am, briefing 7:15am, start 7:30am) Where: South Beach (Fremantle) What: * The State Championship event is the 2.5km swim, and you will accrue points for our club if you do this distance. * However, if that seems too far, there are a 500m and an 1.25km swim on offer – these are a great way to give open water swimming a try in the relatively sheltered waters of South Beach with all your clubmates around for support and encouragement. * If you’re training for a Rotto solo, we won’t begrudge you if you want to step up and do the 5km. How: Enter yourself at the link below (rather than through the club as in the past). Don’t forget to put down that you are a member of Perth City (there is a drop down box beneath where you enter your details). Registrations close midnight Thu 08 Dec. https://secure.onreg.com/onreg2/front/step1.php?id=3447 More details: Go to the entry link or speak to one of your committee or coaches Food: Downs Syndrome WA will be cooking up a BBQ brekky that you can buy on the day. If you’re not into BBQ brekky then why not bring down something to share? Either way bring a blanket or chair to sit on and we can enjoy a post-race meal and chat all together. This is a great event for club participation so we would love to see you all... read more

3rd Annual: John Porter Cup – Sat, April 23rd 2016

The third edition of the famous John Porter Sprint Cup is happening on Saturday the 23th of April, 10:15am @ Perth College John Porter himself (a club member for 15+ years) will be here to present it ! This fun event is based on two handicapped races, a 50m Freestyle event and a 50m Backstroke event. You must swim both events to be eligible for the cup, and it’s your combined time that counts. Handicaps will be based on the lane you normally swim in and some kind of estimate of your current best time. The Cup is back up for grabs from last year’s winner Troy, lets see who will be the next one to have his name engraved on it ?? Following the JPS Cup, we’ll have the BBQ cranking and rustle up some bacon’n’egg burgers at $5 each, so bring your... read more

COVID-19 May Update

Hi PC Swimmers! I hope everyone is safe and well during and I hope you have still been able to get some exercise during these challenging times! Some of our swimmers are turning into triathletes, walking, running and cycling. Many have kept up the occasional ocean swim in spite of the water getting cooler! On the plus side it seems we are now through the worst of it and tomorrow the WA Government will outline which restrictions will be eased next. Of course we are all keen to see if, and how, this will relax pool swimming restrictions. I called John Fielding today for an update from Perth College. He informed that Perth College have yet to compile any guidelines. However once they have the details resulting from tomorrow’s WA briefing they will provide the protocols that we must follow to allow us to use their pool and facilities. It is likely that they will be similar the restrictions we experienced initially. i.e. no gathering before and after swimming, no use of indoor showers. However there may be new restrictions including limiting the number of people in the pool at any one time. Once we know the full protocols, our committee will determine how we will implement them. We will then communicate them via email and Facebook. It is essential we adhere to the instructions provided by our committee which will comply with the WA Government Directives. We will not become complacent and we will do whatever is necessary to preserve the health of our members. Hopefully I will be able to give you good pool-swimming news shortly.... read more
